Today I just decided. My health is reaching a critical phase and I have to do something. So I just decided. In the past few months I signed on to Sue Bryce’s 12-week Transformation Class and learned more about losing weight than I’ve ever seen in one place. I’ve also learned about metabolic syndrome:
increased blood pressure (greater than 130/85 mmHg)
high blood sugar levels (insulin resistance; 110 or higher)
excess fat around the waist (35” or more)
high triglyceride levels (150+)
low levels of good cholesterol, or HDL (less than 45)
Uh, I have all of them. Which means I’m heading for a heart attack or stroke. Ugh.
I’ve felt uncomfortable in my clothes and uncomfortable in the mirror. So I just decided.
My first nudge was the Transformation group, which kicked off in March and I half kept up with. The first few weeks talked about childhood wounds and then she let loose with the ways of weight loss and the only thing that really works is calorie deficit. So that’s what I’m trying. I picked a food tracking app I already had on my phone but had never used: Fooducate (it’s an awful name, but an excellent app). I”m giving myself 1500 calories a day, and I’ll weigh myself every day. Let’s see how it goes.
